Updated-Siemens Feels The Omighty Smackdown

Source: andyabramson.blogs.com

Budding CNBC TV star Om Malik laid the smack down on Siemens today for their masterful PR flub regarding the Skype adapter. It seems his call to Siemens PR yielded the response he posted here.

Skype doesn’t have to feel the heat though. Their PR team is pretty good and the news release of November 10 clearly says where the product will be available. Perhaps with some of the changes inside Siemens that are happening (for the better) like their new Boca Raton director of PR, Jacob Rice, will make sure things like this don’t happen in the Mobile Group.

This is clearly an example of what happens due to the Internet making the world a smaller place. The original Siemens release likely wasn’t destined for the USA, but it didn’t say that..so who knew…Not Om. Not me. Not anyone else it seems. We also didn’t look on the Skype media board. Our error.

Mistakes can happen. It’s admitting you’re wrong. I am. My apologies. I hold myself to that standard. When I’m right I’m right, when I’m wrong, I fix it and say so. That’s how you maintain credibility.
