BridgePort Networks-Fixed Mobile Play Goes Live

Source: andyabramson.blogs.com

Yesterday I teased about some of the things that BridgePort Network’s Sanjay Jhawar had taken me through in a recent briefing. Another BPN team members had also educated me about the new E28 phones mentioned in this press release as well.

These are very hot devices at insanely low price points and have the ability to change carriers overnight to make them more profitable, when traffic moves over to IP from the circuit switched mobile networks.

While the big boys in wireless may foolishly move slower than the BPN technology will allow, I fully expect to see the smaller guys loving the idea of being able to offer dual mode handsets that are either GSM/UMTS/WiFi or CDMA/EVDO/WiFi very soon.

The Sprint 6700 I have been using is exactly that type of device…now all I need is some SIP software that’s really good and lets me flip between EvDO and WiFi, like what Kyocera Wireless and Boingo are doing…HELP!!!!
