Last week, Vonage and Motorola announced a new co-branded wireless router that will allow users to simultaneously fax, telephone and use the Internet. Motorola developed the VT2542 for Vonage’s customers, and it enables VoIP telephony and has a 4-port wired and 802.11 b/g wireless access point for home networking connectivity.
This new wireless router can be purchased directly from Vonage’s website and currently retails for $59.99 after a $40 instant rebate.
The router has the flexibility to connect up to two Vonage lines, including telephone and fax, using either a high-speed Cable or DSL connection. Additional features include Virtual Private Network pass-through support, conference calling, call forwarding, call waiting, call transfer and more.
“The Motorola VT2542 is just the latest innovation that gives our customers more options to meet their communication needs,” said Vonage CEO Mike Snyder. “Vonage’s successful relationship with Motorola has produced ground-breaking devices that help our customers communicate, when, where and how they choose.”
“As Vonage continues to expand its footprint and reach new users, Motorola products are making it easy for customers to add functions and realize more value,” said Alan Lefkof, corporate vice president and general manager, Motorola Broadband Solutions Group. “With the Motorola VT2542 Internet Phone Adapter & Wireless Router, Vonage will now make it easy for anyone to incorporate high-quality VoIP service with additional home networking capabilities and advanced security features in their home.”
