What Dip In Sales?

Interesting Report About a Dip in VoIP Hardware Sales
If there is one thing that I know well it is the VoIP hardware space. That’s why I was surprised to come across this Infonetics report that highlighted a 8% dip in VoIP hardware sales during the first quarter of this year, compared with sales from last year. Historically, I have found the first quarter of each calendar year extremely strong, save for the first two weeks of January. For many VoIP hardware players I know, the first quarter of the year is the best quarter (with the second and third quarters coming in a close second, respectively). Heck, Sangoma reported their best quarter ever in the first three months of this year.
Phone System Sales Slow?
While the report does state that there is nothing to be alarmed about, I have to wonder if ip phone system sales dipped. IP phone systems are typically at the higher end of the VoIP equipment marketplace, so a slowing of IP phone system sales could be an unknown factor for the dip in overall equipment revenues.
I am by no means an analyst, but the numbers in the report look a bit fuzzy. I have seen nothing but tremendous growth the first six months of this year (across the VoIP hardware board) and do not expect a slow down till late November when budgets start to go into hibernation.
