iRiver Hopes Handset Will Compete With iPhone
Yes, I am serious.
The iRiver W10 VoIP phone with multimedia capabilities was built as a “answer” to the Apple iPhone. Sure this bad boy packs a ton of functionality into its tiny shell, with FM radio, MP3 Player, GPS, and e-book reader capabilities, but to market it as a viable alternative to the iPhone? C’mon.

Is the iRiver W10 Realistic?
Not a chance. First off, I do not see residential VoIP at the stage where providers are comfortable offering devices such as the iRiver W10, nor do I see the consumer demand. If the iRiver W10 was a cellular phone, with VoIP capabilities, then maybe they might have a shot at OEMing these for someone. As it is right now, though, they were better off keeping it as a laptop.
