ShoreTel Gets Ready to Rumble

Channel Web Network is reporting that VoIP company ShoreTel has just filed a counterclaim against their competitor Mitel Networks, claiming patent infringement.  In the suit, they are also asking for an injunction and $10 mil in damages.  The counterclaim is to be expected really, and is in response to the lawsuit that Mitel themselves filed against ShoreTel in June.

“We are confident in our position, and believe the timing of Mitel’s filing was intended to interfere with our later successful IPO,” said John Combs, CEO of ShoreTel, in a recent statement. “ShoreTel will defend its position and pursue its claims against Mitel vigorously.”

Mitel has not responded as of yet.
