Good News for Vonage

Source: www.voip-news.com

After a long, difficult year, it seems Vonage is able to put another one of their legal battles behind them and potentially end the year on a high note.  Or at least higher than it started.  Yesterday they announced that their patent dispute has been settled with Verizon, and will be capped at a maximum of $32 million.  Of course, this is in addition to the $88 million that has been already accrued and escrowed, so it’s still a sting, but they can now put this chapter to rest and move on.

“We’re pleased to put this dispute behind us and believe this settlement is in the best interests of Vonage and its customers,” said Sharon O’Leary, Vonage Chief Legal Officer, in a recent press release. “This settlement removes the uncertainty of legal reviews and long-term court action and allows us to continue focusing on our core business and customers.”
