Jajah joins EMOBILE and lands in Japan

Source: snapvoip.blogspot.com

One of my favorite IP Telephony companies, a disruptive one at that, is expanding. Jajah has signed a new contract with a Japanese Mobile broadband provider EMOBILE to provide VoIP over Mobile broadband in Japan.

The client developed for VoMB, Voice over Mobile Broadband, uses the data channel to deleiver the voice connection. If you have ever been to Japan, you know how widely mobile phones are used and how widely they are developed. Some people do not have land lines and depends on Mobile phone for all the communication needs. It is the land where fiber to home, 100MB bi directional for less than $100 a month.

Following is the news release;

CTIA Wireless I.T. and Entertainment 2007 - JAJAH announced today that its new JAJAH Mobile software client now enables voice-over-mobile-broadband calls in Japan with mobile broadband operator EMOBILE. The software uses the data channel, a HSDPA connection, to deliver voice services for mobile broadband customers. By running Windows Mobile 6, users can now make native SIP calls using the JAJAH software, to more than 120 global destinations.

"JAJAH is known for bringing VoIP to the masses. Now with this project we demonstrate our technological leadership. We have built a cutting edge solution that is the first in the industry and demonstrates the possibilities and the future of mobile communication. It’s a great leap forward in technical sophistication," said Trevor Healy, CEO of JAJAH, Inc. "The collaborative project demonstrates that JAJAH’s unique carrier and partner friendly approach can deliver the most interesting solutions to the consumers and create a win-win situation for all industry players involved," added Healy.

"We are committed to supporting high potential companies, like JAJAH, who are accelerating the convergence between Internet and mobility," said Nicolas Kardas, Portfolio Manager, Emerging Business Team at Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT). "By running JAJAH’s service with Windows Mobile 6, EMOBILE’s new embedded service will help provide new value to its customers."

"’EM Mobile Broadband’ is a high-speed mobile data service, which adopts 3.5G HSDPA technology with a maximum downlink speed of 3.6Mbps and a maximum uplink speed of 384kbps. "By installing JAJAH’s Mobile software, EMOBILE offers an unprecedented level of real-time communication and inexpensive services to landlines and mobile phones," said Eric Gan, COO of EMOBILE.

EMOBILE (http://www.emobile.jp) is a Japanese mobile carrier with a data only connection featuring the all new EM·ONE, a cutting edge mobile device by SHARP. It has a large touch screen and is the perfect symbiosis of a full-fledged Internet browser, a mobile PC and a mobile phone. The EM·ONE has an HSDPA data connection with 3.6MB high speed internet connectivity. In addition it has a TV antenna and features high resolution TV channels. The power of Windows Mobile 6 helps deliver the best in office automation.

JAJAH Mobile for the EM·ONE is a SIP-based VoIP application that ships with the device and connects its users over their mobile broadband Internet connection to regular phones, landline or mobile.
