Although global DSL shipments declined earlier this year overall, recent analysis from the team at Ovum RHK revealed that North American shipments managed to go full steam ahead.
“Global DSL shipments declined to 1Q07 levels after the strong showing last quarter, but were still up over third quarter last year,” said Kamalini Ganguly, Analyst, Broadband Network Strategies, at Ovum RHK, in a recent press release. “North American shipments increased for the second consecutive quarter on the back of AT&T’s Project Lightspeed deployments, despite the slowdown in broadband subscriber additions. Alcatel-Lucent remains number one.”
Highlights for the Third Quarter 2007 include:
DSLAM shipments’ decline versus 2Q07 = 11 percent
DSLAM shipments’ growth versus 3Q06 = 8 percent
CMTS shipments’ decline versus 2Q07 = 4 percent
CMTS shipments’ growth versus 3Q06 = 0 percent
Alcatel-Lucent took the lead with 36% of the market, shipping 8 million DSL ports, followed by Huawei, ZTE, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, and lastly UTStarcom trailing with 4% of the market.
