A Satisfied Skype User Speaks Out

Source: asteriskblog.com

One of my female friends told me that since she stopped listening to the bad press about Skype that she found online and finally gave it a try, she never looked back.

The reason why Skype was so convenient for her starts with the fact that it’s a PayPal/eBay division. Being tied to PayPal, paying for her Skype credits was much easier, and since the day she started buying SkypeOut, she hasn’t had a hitch with Skype payments.

Compare this to her experience with GizmoProject, wherein she had to actually ask for a refund because she couldn’t call out even with credits on her account. Though, in fairness to GizmoProject, she was given a speedy refund within a couple of days of emailing customer support, it was still much of a hassle on her part, because she had an emergency at that time. What is worse is that GizmoProject had blocked her VISA Prepaid card, so using GizmoProject after that fiasco is now out of the question.

So far, if there is an all-in-one VoIP solution that my friend likes, it would definitely be Skype. She has become such a fan of it, that she has subscribed to SkypePRO, Skype’s Voice Mail features, SkypeIn, and whenever she has extras, she would go for SkypeOut. She’s chilling a bit on the SkypeOut, though, because it has gotten so expensive for her because she keeps calling friends and texting people through Skype. Imagine!

One thing that made her the ultimate fan of it was that whenever she ran out of money, but still has some PayPal money and would need to text friends, she doesn’t need to beg for prepaid credits anymore. She just buys SkypeOut and starts texting people right away.

SkypeOut has also allowed her to call her best friend whenever she needs some encouragement. My female friend is in the Philippines, while her friend is in Ohio, US. When she doesn’t have SkypeOut, she would just text her best friend through the New Yahoo Mail’s SMS messaging feature then ask her best friend to call her on Skype. Thanks to her Ohio SkypeIn number, her best friend was able to save over a hundred dollars on the first month of SkypeIn use alone.

So despite all the Skype naysayers out there, my female friend is more than satisfied. Call clarity, according to her, is excellent. SkypeIn, SkypeOut, and the Voice Mail features have become so convenient for her. It had also allowed her to have video conferences and video calls with her parents, which had brought them closer, despite being separated by a sea.

All in all, for my friend, Skype rocks. What about you? What’s your Skype/VoIP story?
