Wanted: real time transcription

Pulver’s challenge to the Internet Communications Industry: create a real time captioning application for the hard of hearing. He’s offering a spot on stage at Spring VON to demo this application.
Having spent a good junk of the weekend looking for a quality transcription system, I certainly agree that the time has come for this. Windows Vista lets me transcribe voice from a single speaker in real time. What I really want is to be able to transcribe a podcast, like the SquawkBox. Audio content isn’t searchable yet, but boy… would the world be a better place if it was.
I’ll be watching this one with a lot of interest. Seems like a ripe opportunity for a mashup. Thomas Howe? Did you see this?
