TelePresence From AT&T is Coming; But Not for Your Home- Yet

Source: alanweinkrantz.typepad.com

AT&T is getting ready to start deploying Cisco’s TelePresence solution.

This is a business - or rather enterprise solution and not something for the home.

So, why I am writing about something like TelePresence in a consumer blog?

Because it’s something to think about in terms of future consumer applications of  this technology.   With HD video and full spacial audio technologies, you can be "present" without having to get on an airplane.  So…imagine being "present" with your children who may live in different cities, getting all your classmates together for a virtual discussion about "whatever…" or ratcheting this up a bit an putting this type of application on FaceBook.

The videos above are aimed at enterprise class business customers of AT&T.

If you use your imagination, just think of the consumer applications- not quite yet; but in the future could be.

And maybe part of the future of what U-verse could become.
