UPDATE on NICE/Verint Patent Infringement Case

The Federal District Court for Northern Georgia in Atlanta has ruled that while NICE’s VoIP patent 6871229 is valid, Verint Americas, Inc., didn’t infringe on it with certain WItness products. NICE plans to appeal.

“NICE has the broadest portfolio of granted patents in its industry. Our innovative and market leading products are protected by the most extensive portfolio of intellectual property,” says Dr. Shlomo Shamir, President of NICE Systems Ltd. “We intend to continue to seek enforcement of these patents.”

NICE accused Verint of infringing on five NICE recording patents as well. They are waiting on a trial date and are seeking permanent injunctions and damages.

“In addition, we believe that Verint’s patents asserted against NICE are invalid and we intend to continue seeking invalidation of these patents,” Shamir said.
