Microsoft’s OCS 2007, To Be Launched Soon

Source: solokay.blogspot.com

Following Microsoft’s decision to partake in the VoIP market, it began developing an entirely software based VoIP solution software, which is in its final stages. To be launched soon.

Office Communications Server 2007 and Office Communicator will be offering VoIP telephony, instant messaging and conference calling all within one single PC unit. It is powered using SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) giving users vast interoperability within various VoIP vendors, thereby minimizing cost and enhancing functionality.

Jeff Raikes, president of Microsoft Business Division said “Customers are truly seeing the magic of software in this instance; they see they will get more capabilities at less cost than the traditional approaches of any of the existing players”. He also said "We’re one step close to delivering the products that will establish Microsoft as a major force in communications," at the vendors annual analyst meeting.

Jay lendl, vice president, Microsoft services at Granite Pointe Partners, based in Minnesota, gave his remark on OCS 2007 that,” the interest in OCS 2007 for most customers would be because of its integration with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007”and added that “its important to have a single view of the internal teams and people that you work with, and have presence be a part of collaboration, whether it’s through text, speech, video conferencing”.

With experts and analyst presenting various views and opinions about the issue, just like when it was said that the SunRockets crashing and going bankrupt would affect the VoIP industry badly and hinder its growth due to the reluctance of big players to join. Though proved wrong, many forget due to time. Being a big player that Microsoft is, coming on stream in this industry in a couple of months, we all hope the solution meets the expectation of all, following its hype and campaign.
